The area of Bank, Cannon Street, and St Paul’s in London is a well known for its historical architecture and morning rush hour swarm of workings commuting to their offices during the weekdays. However, on the weekends it’s largely empty, at least empty for central London (because I consider London crowded in this day and age). This is why I think this location is perfect if you want the retro London backdrop in your photos with minimal pedestrian activity. Walking through you’ll see stark contrasts between buildings that have stood for hundreds of years next to modern developments made seemingly of finely cut glass and metal.
The motive for this shoot was to see how film (Portra 800) would deal with very dark shadows and blacks. I knew by now that film exposes highlights wonderfully, but what if the model wore a jet black dress? I thought these images looked great considering I didn’t expose the film as well as I could have.

Very beautiful. Wonderful colours and the elegance of the model and sunlight is very successful.
Thanks, the area of Bank is a great place to shoot during the weekends.
These photos are simple in effect but yet it is because of this that the photos have a special feel and touch. The faded back drop of the London skyline is very effective to give the relaxed feel to the whole shoot, which is also reflected by the model. Very nice photo shoot overall…
